Heather O'Reilly A Champion Again!
Sky Blue Wins WPS Championship

Heather O'Reilly being congratulated by teammate Natasha Kai after scoring the game-winnerEBSC's Heather O'Reilly continues to make us all incredibly proud with her continued brilliance on the pitch. This past weekend she scored the only goal of the game -- and was named game MVP -- in leading Sky Blue FC to a stunning 1-0 victory over top-seeded Los Angeles Sol in the inaugural Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) championship game.

Sky Blue, with whom EBSC has been a proud partner in their first season, dominated the game early and got on the scoreboard when Natasha Kai's cross found Heather, who turned and drilled a right-footed shot past the Sol keeper.

Sky Blue's road to the championship was improbable, to say the least. They started off slowly and were in last place in the league and then had two head coaching changes before Heather's fellow Olympian, Point Pleasant's Chistie Rampone, was named head coach. Under Rampone's direction, Sky Blue slipped into the league playoffs with a fourth and final seed and had to win two games just to get to the finals in LA against the home Sol, which finished first in the regular season and had a bye right to the final game.

In case you're keeping track, Heather won a state championship for the EBSC Dynamite while playing for our club, a state championship for East Brunswick High School, a national championship at the University of North Carolina, a U-19 world championship, two Olympic gold medals and now the WPS championship.
