As 2009 comes to a close, this is a very opportune time to thank the club's outgoing Board members for their many years of dedicated and outstanding service on behalf of the boys and girls in the East Brunswick Soccer Club.
Pete Trimboli made a major contribution to the growth and development of our Girls' Recreation Program during his time as VP-Girls Recreation, and he later served the club as VP-Registration. Pete was also instrumental in the continued success of our annual spring Recreation Tournament, which has grown in recent years and has become one of the top-rated recreation tournaments in the state.
Charles Sheard's role as Secretary made him the man in charge of a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including web site updates, interaction with the township and the board of education, communications, and so much more. A former Travel coach now coaching at the Superstars and Recreation levels, Charles was the driving force when serving as VP of Boys Rec behind the club's decision to upgrade all Recreation uniforms a couple of years ago and to add a world soccer dimension (e.g., Team Italy, Team France) to our Recreation leagues.
Gary Kaplan is one of our longest-tenured board members. Gary coached in our club for many years at the Recreation and Travel levels and has been instrumental in developing a cadre of youth referees to work our Recreation games and tournaments. More important, his enthusiasm for youth referees has kept local teens involved in youth soccer and has encouraged several to become travel referees.
And Ladio Hanzes, our 1st VP-Fields, has not only held numerous Board positions during his tenure but, most recently, juggled responsibilities as the club's 1st Vice President and as the manager of our fields. In his fields role, Ladio has worked tirelessly to maintain the quality of our township and BOE fields, and the current irrigation project at Dideriksen Park fields 6 and 7 is the direct result of his hard work.
