Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Course
August 20, 2009 at the VFW, beginning at 6:30 pm
For any EBSC coaches who do NOT have their Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. certification, EBSC will be hosting a course on Thursday, August 20, at 6:30 pm, at the VFW. To attend, you must (A) reserve a space by emailing our VP of Training, Adam Weinglass at ebsoccer.trainingvp@gmail.com with your name and which team you coach, and (B) bring a check for $25.50 (details as to the payee will be provided at the course). EBSC will reimburse all EBSC coaches that amount after the course (see http://www.ebsoccer.com/forms/index_E.html for the reimbursement form, which can be emailed to the EBSC Treasurer). For details about what the S.A.F.E.T.Y course entails, go to http://youthsports.rutgers.edu/ but essentially, by taking this course you will receive limited personal immunity under NJ statute against law suits arising out of accidents that occur at your practices or games - as long as you are not grossly negligent (e.g. – letting the kids play on a field littered with lots of broken glass), you are protected. So getting this certification is for YOUR benefit, and EBSC considers it mandatory for all head coaches, and any assistant coaches that may be running practices on their own. If you cannot make this course, but need to get certified, use the above link to the Rutgers site to find other courses. This certification covers you for any youth sports as well.
